Lake Tappan Paddle Day
Saturday, August 12
*Rain or shine*
Presented by Hackensack Riverkeeper and SUEZ
Lake Tappan Paddle Day is a family-friendly day of paddling on the Lake Tappan Reservoir in Old Tappan, NJ – brought to you through a partnership between Hackensack Riverkeeper and SUEZ. Part three of the Reservoir Paddle Series, the event supports Hackensack Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, preserve, and restore the Hackensack River.

Lake Tappan Paddle Day consists of three paddling sessions. You may bring their own boat or rent one from our fleet (folks with own boats may join us any time between 9am and 3pm). You can choose a single-person kayak, a tandem (two-person) kayak, or canoe. Space is limited; registering online guarentees you a boat. Register by July 20 and receive a free event T-Shirt (one free t-shirt per registrant; one t-shirt per own-boat). We have additional t-shirts for sale for $15.00!

Dubbed the “Triple Crown of Paddling”, the Reservoir Paddle Series offers public access to the Oradell Reservoir, Lake DeForest, and Lake Tappan – bodies of water normally off-limits to the public.

This event is a fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly to Hackensack Riverkeeper** to help continue our mission to protect, preserve, and restore the Hackensack River Watershed. Your registration is a donation to the organization and is non-refundable. In the event you are unable to attend, we will issue a voucher that you may use at either of our paddling centers or at a 2017 special event. Call 201-968-0808 within 48 hours of the event to release your rental and arrange for your voucher.

**Hackensack Riverkeeper is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Kayak Raffle: Add a kayak raffle ticket when registering! A $10.00 donation puts you in the drawing for an Old Town kayak valued at $500.00, courtesy of Ramsey Outdoor Stores. Drawing in December. Ticket will be mailed to the address provided.

Paddles, PFD’s and whistles will be provided to those who rent a boat. Anyone bringing their own boat must provide their own paddle, PFD and whistle.

All canoes must have two adult paddlers.

Children 5 and over may ride as a passenger in the center of a canoe, paddled by two adults.
Children 8 and over can paddle in the front seat of a tandem kayak with a parent or guardian in the back.

Safety boats will be on the water to provide assistance.
Paddlers must stop to provide assistance to any other paddler who appears to be in distress.
